“To say we ate well would be an understatement … the sort of dishes I find myself dreaming about long after the last petit four has disappeared” - Mercy Breheny, The Scotsman (November 2011)
A warm welcome awaits you at Barley Bree, a 4 star restaurant with rooms, run by chef Fabrice Bouteloup with his wife Alison. Formerly a roadside inn, the restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, offering quality local and seasonal food, cooked with care and passion. Our friendly and attentive staff help make your stay memorable. Our rooms are cosy and comfortable, with en-suite facilities. You can spend your days exploring and enjoy the woods and walks of Highland Perthshire, and return for good food and wine by the blazing log fire.
If you are looking for some ideas of what to do while in Strathearn, a region at the very heart of Scotland, we can suggest a few.
Crieff is nearby with a wide array of independent shops, cafes and art galleries and the town square hosts a country market every second Saturday. The River Earn borders the town and offers tranquil walks through the shaded woodland on either bank.
A 20 minute drive away from Muthill is Blackford and The Baxters Experience, a shopping emporium with a food hall that offers a taste of the produce that has made Baxters world famous, also a great place to do some Christmas shopping. And the Tullibardine Distillery is just next door.
“One of the few truly great, independent small-town restaurants in the country” - Kay Cox, The Sun (December 2011)

Fabrice wins a Chef Medaille D’Or for excellence at the Scottish Hotel Awards 2011.
