The conservation village of Muthill is set amidst beautiful rolling countryside,
deep in
the heart of Perthshire. It has its own golf course and is well placed
as a base, from which
to explore Perthshire. Gleneagles Hotel with 3 famous golf courses is
only 9 miles away:
St Andrews and Carnoustie are also within easy reach. Crieff, which is
only 3 miles away also has a beautiful 18-hole golf course.
As well as golf, the area has much to offer hill walkers, hunters, cyclists
and fishermen. There is lovely driving through the glens to the scenic
Highland lochs of Loch Tay and Loch Earn, and fishing in the rivers Earn
and Almond. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend break with delicious
food, quality wines and malt whiskies, we are only 48 miles from Edinburgh
airport and 54 miles from Glasgow airport.
Local attractions include magnificent Drummond Castle Gardens which is
1 mile from the village, Stirling Castle is approximately 30 minutes drive
to the south and the city of Perth is about 16 miles to the north.
For the less active, the area has interesting historical sites, wonderful
flora and fauna and speciality shopping.
Surrounded by thousands of acres of prime shooting estates, Muthill hosts
a very active shooting season which kicks off on the “Glorious Twelfth”.
We can help put interested parties in touch with local guides. Not only
is accommodation provided here but we can adapt our service to fit in
with the demands of the shoot. For example, breakfast can be served later
in the morning for shooting parties who have gone out early and hearty
packed lunches can be provided as required. Special rates on dinner, bed
and breakfast are available for shooting parties booking in for 3 nights
or more. Contact us on 01764 681451 for more details.
The local estate also offers simulated shoots which are very popular and
are available all year round. (more)
